A very powerful program, but the size of an installation file is 40 Mbytes!  Interface is cute, but it’s hard to determine what’s where, where to click and where to conduct the actual search, a newbie will face hardships: queries for search are input by opening one program, while the index management is conducted with the help of another program. Search queries can also be entered in separate windows that appear. To top it all it doesn’t support the Russian language.

The possibilities of index creation include a few ready templates (on the example of such folders as “My Documents”, “Mail”, “Mail and Documents”, “Specific Folder”, “Folder with the choice of file types” etc.). ISYS Desktop can index information from different sources and offers a variety of settings for it. Additional functions: support of SQL, FTP, TRIM, Context, WORLDOX 2002, scripts, index planner.

Among the program’s advanced functions are usage of synonyms, sorting filters (by  path, title and date of creation of the file). Absence of morphological search came as a surprise. Beside that, there is no list of important words, although the list of unimportant words is quite extensive. Among other announced functions were "approximate search" and " heuristic analysis".

Search results are quite informative, presented as a list of documents, sorted by relevancy. Unfortunately, document preview is only available in ordinary text format; displaying the document in it’s initial format, whether it’s Word, Html or PDF was not available. The program lets you sort documents by certain criteria (by default they are sorted by relevancy)
