General information A pop-up window is a browser window that appears on the screen when you least want it. Some web resources are designed to specifically generate unwanted pop-ups that suddenly bob up, take the valuable space and can significantly slow down the loading of web pages. Most often such windows contain advertisements and sometimes they make working on the Internet next to impossible. Especially, when you work with multiple windows at a time, when it is difficult to determine, which of them generates the unwanted pop-ups.          AdsCleaner can ban such windows and block them from loading. Simply enable the pop-up blocking feature on the AdsCleaner toolbar in the Internet Explorer browser or, alternatively, in the system settings. The point is that the advertising is aimed to attract attention. Being guided by this principle, ads makers invent progressively newer and newer kinds of irritants to make the audience react. The first thing that caught my eye at launching the application was its clumsy design and awkward interface. Numerous tabs, unnecessary pictures and explanation notes contrasted with the set of options far from being smart. No doubt the features are quite easy to master– considering that the tawdry hints and icons actually provide some information. However, the functions are not enough. As for pop-up blocking, it is perfectly in order. There are even a black list and a white list for the windows headers. But the banners are what AdsGone cannot duly cope with. It is impossible to add unwanted sites to the list of addresses, as well as to disable Flash advertising. One can’t even plainly track spy software (though such a feature is declared) due to the same inability to update the list of hostile applications. The last straw laid by AdsGone to break the camel’s back was an absurd bug in the design. It was revealed when trying to maximize the main window (see screenshot).
