Mail box settings in Spam Blocker
To tune a mail account, present in the list of mail accounts, you should select it in the "Mail accounts" task bar. As a result, in the "Information window" all the accessible (network) settings for this mail box will be displayed.
All the fields in this pane are mandatory for filling in. Please make sure that the data you provide is valid.
Account name - in this field you have to enter a name for this mailbox. Under this name the mailbox will appear in the Spam Blocker system. This name will be displayed in the list of mail accounts.
POP3 server - in this field you have to specify the address of the pop3 -server of your mail provider. If you don't know the address, please refer to your provider for this information. In most cases the POP3 address is indicated on the site that provides this account in the clients' e-mail settings for working with mail.
Server port is the port via which the POP3 server operates. In most cases it is indicated by the provider next to the POP3 server address. If the port name is not indicated anywhere, then your server most likely operates via the standard 110 port. By default this value is set to 110.
User name - in this field you have to enter the "username" (login) that you have selected when you were registering your account, i.e., the name that you use for logging into your mailbox.
User password - in this field you have to enter the password that will provide access to your account (mailbox).
After you have filled in all the fields described above, you can check whether you have provided valid data by trying to connect to your mailbox with Spam Blocker. To connect to your mailbox, click the Test settings button. If the connection is established successfully, you will receive an appropriate message. Otherwise you should check the data you have provided. If all the data is correct but the connection is not established, it may be caused by an external factor, such as a bad Internet connection or transient error on the mail provider server. In addition, successful connection may often be hampered by the network firewall running on your computer. In this case you should tune its settings or deactivate it all together.
Run check at program startup - the anti spam program will process the content of your mailbox at start-up.
Run check every X minutes - the spam filtering program will work in background mode and regularly (every X minutes) check your mailbox for new messages. If there are any, Spam Blocker will check them for advertising content and delete such messages in cases corresponding to the anti spam rules set in the account options.
Repeat check if error occurred - when this option is selected, in case of connection errors (such as low-quality connection to the Internet), Spam Blocker will try to re-connect as many times as is indicated in the Reconnection count field. All attempts to re-connect will be carried out without any additional pauses (i.e., in a row).
Check only new messages - the mail server that hosts the account can mark the messages that have already been viewed (depending on its functionality). If the server is equipped with this ability, Spam Blocker will process those messages only that have not been marked as read.
Block message if marked as spam in DNS black lists - it the message is present in the DNS lists that are composed by services independent of the mail server, it will be blocked.
Block letter if marked as spam by server spam filters - many mail servers utilize their own anti spam filters. On the whole the principle used by such services for determining whether the message can be qualified as spam is based on analyzing the amount of identical messages (or coming from the same sender) that have been received by the accounts hosted on this server. Thus, it is often the case that mail server anti spam filters take all sorts of mailing lists (such as jokes), registration notifications, etc. for spam. If you are not subscribed to any mailing lists, you can activate this option and trust that you mail server filters your correspondence. Otherwise do not use this anti spam option.
Block message if incorrect "From address" detected - the field is considered incorrect if the sender's actual address is different from the address recorded in the From field. This trick is often used by spam services in order to deceive the addressee, because the actual addresses are often generated at random, but the From field displays a respectable and eye-catching address. However, it is not only spammers who use this trick.
After you have entered all the required information, click Save changes. Otherwise, if you select any other option in the Mail accounts pane, you will be requested to confirm the changes.

To clean the mail account from spam a universal anti spam shield is needed which will save the money otherwise wasted on downloading weighty letters traffic and the time otherwise lost on viewing and deleting them. Such a anti spam shield is the spam filtering programs which remotely check the mail in the user box without uploading them and block unwanted letters immediately at the server. Such spam blocker programs are many. They differ in interface and functionality, but have one thing in common: obligatory check of email at the server.
